Ocean Experience helps to bring the excitement and fun of ocean sailing to young people. We took part in the 2005 Tall Ships race from Newcastle to Norway which was fantastic fun!
Never been on the water before? Excellent! We can take you from zero to hero in one day! The door is open for all young people between the ages of 15 and 20 years to have an 'Ocean Experience'. Even if you have never seen the sea, a day on board our yacht could turn you into the next Ellen Macarthur.
If you don't know who she is, don't worry, you can check out her video when you are on board. Individuals are advised to contact Ocean Experience via their school, organisation or parents to discuss an event.
Events are tailor made and include the following:One Day Race Training
A full day's race training in the Solent including safety briefing, yacht preparation and basic sailing manoeuvres. The Solent is a busy stretch of water and the perfect training ground for this event with plenty of breeze ensuring some exhilarating sailing. This can be the perfect way to progress to a four day race training program.
Four Day Race Training
Ocean racing is more than just being able to sail a yacht. This four day course takes individuals into an intensive racing experience. As well as learning to sail the yacht quickly, the team will cover yacht planning and preparation, basic safety checks and maintenance, provisioning and cooking onboard.
Adventure Sailing and Racing
Ocean Experience takes groups of young people on channel trips to France and other European destinations as well as offering places on some of the races in the 2009/10 season. In order to participate in these race events you will need to qualify by completing one of the 4 day training programs.
