Biography Stuart Jackson – Owner and Skipper Stuart, 34, owns and runs his Challenge 67’ yacht Aurora of London. He was the youngest skippers in the fleet of the 2004/5 Global Challenge, attaining 2nd place on the Barclays Adventurer in the ten month race. The Global Challenge, labeled The World’s Toughest Yacht Race, finished on the 18th July 2005. Racing into the prevailing winds and currents, the twelve identical yachts crewed by sailors from all walks of life, encountered the worst weather on the planet. From the searing heat and windless Doldrums to the ferocity of a Southern Ocean Storm there was never a dull moment. Following Stuart’s success in the Global challenge he went on to become Regional International Trade Director for Barclays and now returns to the marine world and has his Yachtmaster Ocean qualification. Stuart is also a professional development consultant helping corporate teams reach their potential. In 2000 he entered the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), the largest transoceanic crossing in the world, sailing aboard his father’s yacht. After arriving in the Caribbean with the ARC fleet Stuart sailed back to his homeland of Scotland single-handed, via Bermuda and the Azores. The experience encouraged Stuart to follow his own belief that if he bought a Challenge Yacht, the business world could benefit from hands on, team building and adventure sailing. Media contact:
